The Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers – Essential Information
Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers is a self-governing professional organization established by the Act of the Slovak National Council No. 138/1992 Coll. on Authorized Architects and Authorized Civil Engineers.

The Civil Engineering Chamber was dissolved in 1951. After 41 years, the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers has been renewed by the above mentioned act in 1992.
Main Responsibilities
Main responsibilities of our chamber include:

participation on the protection of public interest in the sphere of building and protection of the rights of the individual members of our chamber;

supporting the international exchange of members and contributing to the development of the building and construction industry;

safeguarding international exchange of professional knowledge with scientific institutions;

defending and supporting the rights and professional interests and supporting the professional credit between engineers;
-
ensuring that civil engineers should perform their profession in a professional way, in compliances with the ethics in a manner established by national acts and directives as well as regulations of the chamber.
Membership and Authorization
Our member basis consists of authorized engineers, voluntary members, legal persons and visiting foreign members.
In accordance with the Slovak law the Chamber issues the certificates for authorized engineers for carrying out complex architectural and engineering services and connected technical advisory which includes professional activities in building construction and civil engineering. This means consultancy design, static analysis as well as technical, technological and energetic equipping of buildings. Furthermore, authorized engineers may provide technical and economic advisory services, expert’s opinions, and professional author’s supervision of building in accordance with the design documentation. The certificates are issued after passing the examination in front of the Board of Examiners of our chamber. There are more than 4400 authorized civil engineers in
The chamber educates also building site managers and building invigilation officers. After passing the examination in the chamber, they are also awarded with diplomas. Since 1996 our chamber has issued more than 9900 certificates for building site managers and more than 8600 certificates for building invigilation officers in
The organs of the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers include the General Assembly, the Board, the Supervisory Board, the Executive Board and the President.
Other elected organs are: the Authorization Commission, the Committee for Foreign Affairs, the Ethical Council and the Disciplinary Board.

The chamber actively cooperates with foreign civil engineering chambers and associations and has signed cooperation agreements with the Czech, Hungarian, Bavarian, and other European chambers. The Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers is a member of the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE) and a signatory member of the European Council of Engineering Chambers (ECEC).
